La Laguna Botanical Garden

This is the greenest corner in San Salvador. This park lies atop the crater of a volcano and the surrounding vegetation is so plentiful that over 3,500 species of both exotic and local plants grow there. Visitors here put the city’s noisy and bustling life in the back of their minds and find themselves suddenly spellbound to stroll to shadowy trails in and out the 32 areas where most of the plants and trees (medicinal, forest and desert) are classified. Among the most interesting local species, cocoa, indigo and chamomile trees hailing from the Middle East stand out.
