The Dominican Republic, with 6.6 million travelers received in 2018, is promoted as a tourism leader in the Caribbean, at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), which takes place in Madrid, Spain, from January 23 to 27.

As a FITUR Partner, it will advertise its extraordinary diversity of attractions as a Destination, with charming beaches, the practice of adventure sports, golf, nature tourism and a hotel plant with great comfort, as well as a varied gastronomy.

The World Tourism Organization (WTO) reported that in 2018 the Caribbean and Central America region did not experience growth in the arrival of international tourists, which was affected by the impact of hurricanes Irma and Maria in September 2017.

The WTO statistics indicate that the decrease was 2 percent.

Meanwhile, the rise in the Americas was significant, with a growth of three percent, by receiving 217 million international arrivals last year, with mixed results in all destinations.

La Organización Mundial de Turismo (OMT) informó que en 2018 la región del Caribe y América Central no tuvo crecimiento en el arribo de turistas internacionales, en lo cual incidió el impacto de los huracanes Irma y María en septiembre de 2017.

Las estadísticas de la OMT señalan que el decrecimiento fue de un 2 por ciento.

Cuba will attend the XXXIX International Tourism Fair (FITUR 2019), which will be held from January 23 to 27 at its usual headquarters in Madrid, the capital of Spain, according to a press release from the Tourism Ministry (Mintur).

The island's delegation will be led by the sector incumbent Manuel Marrero Cruz, and will include the presidents and commercial vice presidents of major hotel chains, travel agencies, as well as partners Melia Hotels, Iberostar, Blue Diamond, Muthus, Roc Hotels, Accor, NH, Barcelo, Valentin, Kempinski, among others.

Manuel Marrero, Cuban Minister of Tourism, announced that two large five-star hotels are in the process of being built on the Ancon Peninsula, which is located at about 12 kilometers south of the Cuban city of Trinidad, Caribbean Museum City.

In his Twitter account, the head of the leisure industry, made the announcement when referring to the presentation of the Development Plan of Trinidad city ( Sancti Spiritus province) until 2030 to the Cuban president, Miguel Diaz-Canel, during a government visit to that territory of central Cuba.
