Biografía: 
Matanzas, 1886 His studies and his first job as telegraphist of the railroads were in his home city. He got got his degree in Civil Law in the University of Havana in 1918 and later, in 1921, he got the title of public notary. He worked as notary in Jagüey Grande (Matanzas). During the dictatorship of Gerardo Machado he suffered the political prison. When Machado`s regimen was overthrew, he was entlited provisional governor of Matanzas (1933-1934). During Mendieta`s government he was in charge of the presidency`s secretaryship. From 1936 to 1944 he was senator of the Republic and he was the President of Nationalist Union Party from 1936 to 1937. He also worked as public notary in Havana. He was contributor in Letras, El Figaro (where he published his first poems), El Cubano Libre, Orto, Social, Carteles, Diario de la Marina, Las Antillas, Ariel, Archipielago and other important newspapers and magazines. He also was the President of the Ateneo of Matanzas. He was a member of the extinct Academy of Arts and Letters-where he entered with the speech of Federico Uhrbach Las montañas: cumbres de la materia. Los poetas: cumbres del espiritu (Havana, Molina, 1938), which appears with the reply of Dulce Maria Borrero de Lujan, from the Cuban Academy of the Language, the Lawyers College and in the Notarial College of Matanzas. Along with Regino Boti and Jose Manuel Poveda, he is one of the representatives of the lyric rebirth that took place in the provinces before the 1920s. some of his poems have been translated into French. He has unpublished his translations of poems belonging to Baudelaire, Verlaine, Lamartine, as well as books of poetry and prose. He left the country in 1973.
