He is also an actor of the theater, radio, televisión and movies, theater writer, dance, ballet, poetry, novel, stories, musical texts. He has obtained important national and international prizes, such as the National Prize of Literature "Hernandez Cata" in 1953 and the Festival Prize of the Cuban Song. He has written several scripts for the movies, video, ballet and he has made important contributions such as the advice to Franco Solinas for the script of "Quemada" by G. Pontecorvo; as opera advisor in "Hija de Cuba", theater of Voronesh`s opera, 1964. He was in charge of the production of Estonia and Letonia in "La Sexta Parte del Mundo" by Julio G. Espinosa; the dubbing of the film "Tierra en Trance" by Glauber Rocha and the advice of Wolney Oliveira in "Sabor a mi". He has been jury and speaker in several movie events in Latin America, Europe and arab countries, he has also given courses, seminaries, workshops, conferences, he has published works and exhibited films in universities and cultural institutions of Cuba, United States, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Costa Rica, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Argelia, Syria, Lebanon, Angola, Congo, Ethiopia, Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, England, Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Poland, Hungary, Bulgary, Germany, Checoslovaquia, Soviet Union, China, Japan, Korea, Filipinas, Canada. He is a member of the SGAE of Spain, a member of the Pen Club of Cuba, the International Union of Movie Critics, and the National Video Movement. He has obtained gold and silver medals of the Advisor`s Association of Cuba (since 1954 until 1958). He is a founder of the Cultural Society "Nuestro Tiempo"; the "Teatro Estudio"; the Professional School of Publicity; the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba UNEAC. He obtained the medal for the National Culture, Jose Manuel Valdes Rodriguez Medal given by the University of Havana.
