The Botanical Gardens, founded in 1763, is the oldest such gardens in the Western Hemisphere.
The Camino Real Intercontinental Hotel is right in the heart of San Salvador across from the largest shopping mall in Central America and in one of the city's main boulevards. The hotel's decoration is modern and the lobby features murals and works of art by local artists, including Roberto Galicia, Cesar Melendez, Fernando Llort, Negra Alvarez and Titi Escalante.
