United States of America

Many of the first and most beautiful towers ever built were designed by Louis Sullivan (1856-1924), America’s harbinger among modern architects. “Form always depends on function,” Sullivan said, meaning that the purpose of a building is to determine the outlined project. This idea is one of the underpinnings of modern architecture. Frank Lloyd Wright (1869-1959) is currently penciled in as the most original, modern and influential architect that ever was, yet his work and knowledge was downplayed by international commissions for most of his life.Sullivan and Wright’s ideas, though quite different, grew to get a grip of American architecture. Some of America’s best architects are Philip Johnson and I. M. Pei Michael whose works are full of details and decoration.
