Varadero has been described by many as the most famous seaside resort in the world. It emerged as a fishing village in 1887, but it was not until 1931 that the first hotel, called La Torre, was built to accommodate visitors attracted by the transparency of the waters.

Its history has curious nuances that give it a halo of exoticism. It is said that its fine sands knew of the presence of corsairs and pirates who chose the place as a refuge to keep chests full of jewelry and gold doubloons.

Much has changed since then Varadero, located 140 km from Havana, which has more than 60 hotels and 21 400 rooms, of which 80% are 4 and 5 stars and 20,790 rooms.

Playa Azul is also known as the main tourist pole of Cuba’s sun and beach, which welcomes travelers who choose it as a destination, both in the high season of tourism and in the rest of the months of the year, because on the island predominates a summer climate.

Varadero presents in its offers’ portfolio, in addition to bathing in its crystal clear beach, nature tourism, with tours on motorcycles and motor bikes, as well as yipis excursions, the well-known safaris that depart from the so-called Blue Beach and visit the cave of Saturn, Punta Maya; a place where you can do contemplative diving and snorkeling.
