The 14th Carifesta 2019 Festival will be held in Trinidad and Tobago, as ratified by an agreement signed by Trinidadian Prime Minister Keith Rowley and Caricom Secretary General Irwin La Rocque.
During a recent special session of the heads of state of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) and Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean country was officially invited to host the festival from August 16-25 next year.
The event will take place under the slogan 'Tangible and Intangible: connect, share and invest', which represents the opportunity to build bridges, include the old and the new, folklore and indigenous and contemporary traditions.
Carifesta 2019 will be attended by artists and cultural professionals from about 30 countries in the region and will be the fourth time it will be held on that Caribbean island, as they were previously held in 1992, 1995 and 2006.
There will be national nights, film festivals, literature and arts, food and community festivals, symposiums, an extraordinary concert with the best of the Caribbean artistic world, as well as the so-called green wellness spaces, with yoga sessions and other good living activities.
