Tourism strategy in search of social benefits in Mexico

The new tourism model, entrenched in the postulates of the government of Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, is intended to increase economic revenue and benefit the local population.

This statement was made by Miguel Torruco Marques, Secretary of Federal Tourism, during a conference at the Ordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee and Presidents of Concanaco-Servytur 2019, in the capital of Durango, in which he highlighted that the tourism sector represents 8.8 % of the national GDP and grew more than the national economy: 2.9 against 2.0 %.

He noted that they have the purpose of increasing the economic flow and per capita expenditure of tourists, because although Mexico today ranks sixth worldwide in arrival of international tourists, is located in the 15th place in attracting foreign exchange and 40th place in the average expenditure of international travelers.

He announced that they are setting up complementary tourist circuits, through the attractive "anchor" in various regions of the country, such as the Armando Manzanero Museum in Merida, Yucatan.

Among the plans for the creation of new attractions he announced that in Mexicali, Baja California, will lay the first stone of what will be the Chinatown.

They also began the first actions for what will be in Mazatlan, Sinaloa the new Aquarium of the Sea of Cortez and is working on strengthening the future Film Museum in Durango.
