Trinidadian VS Naipaul is one of the Caribbean's most famous writers.
The Segundo Frente Hotel of the municipality of the same name in Santiago de Cuba was awarded with the Excelencias Group Green prize, during a ceremony held in Madrid, in the context of the Fitur 2019 International Tourism Fair.
Manuel Marrero, Cuba's Minister of Tourism, wrote on his Twitter account: "We have just received the Tourism Excelencias Award for the Hotel Segundo Frente, in the Green Category. What an honor. Congratulations to the Inspirador and those who made it possible. #CubaDestinationSafe".
The Award, which recognizes this tourist facility as a good example of nature tourism, was given by Jose Carlos de Santiago, president of the Excelencias Group, to Jorge Alberto Garcia Dominguez, first vice-president of Cubanacan Hotels, the group that manages the hotel, located in the Sierra Cristal mountain range.
It has 52 one- and two-level rooms, including three standard suites with swimming pool and jacuzzi, as well as restaurants, gymnasium, sports court, party room and shop.
The Hotel Segundo Frente is 60 kilometers north of the city of Santiago de Cuba. It is an architectural project in perfect harmony with the natural environment and has a privileged position within the mountain massif.
The facility was built without altering the balance of the environment, and promotes the conservation of nature and existing ecosystems.
Along with the comfort of the modern facilities, the visitor can enjoy riding and hiking activities, as well as getting to know first hand the customs of the Cuban countryside.
Cuba participates with a large delegation headed by Marrero in Fitur 2019, which ends on Sunday 27, and premieres a new design for the participation of this destination in international fairs, with a stand of 184.5 square meters.
