Russian tourist arrivals to Dominican Republic Grow

In the last two months, after the elimination of visas, 2000 Russian tourists arrived in the Dominican Republic through the airport of Las Americas (AILA), to vacation in the country attracted by its warm climate and the beauty of its beaches.

Since last September Russia and the Dominican Republic announced the abolition of the visa and this has favored the increase of travelers from that issuing market.

In the first 10 months of 2018, about 174,362 Russian tourists visited the Caribbean nation and 245,346 arrived in 2017.

from the beginning, the Dominican Republic bet on capturing fundamental figures from this market to the region and according to statistics 158,415 Russian visitors were registered in 2012.

Recently, both countries signed an agreement for the exemption of visa, which is in line with plans to increase the number of

the arrival of vacationers.

Russian tourism shows a growing trend in the Caribbean, for the improvement of the economy of that nation, the growing

governments' willingness to strengthen bilateral links and the ncrease in air connectivity, among other causes.

These circumstances place this emitting market -together with the Chinese market-, as the main target of the tourism industry in the region for conquering other alternative clients that complete the traditional market, lets say the North American and Western European markets.
