Eight tourist projects will be developed with an investment of 467, 5 million dollars,which will increase by 2,212 rooms the lodging fund of the Dominican Republic.
The Tourist Development Council (Confotur) approved this plan for the development of the leisure industry, while five other initiatives still have provisional classification, with an investment of approximately 205, 9 million dollars, and 1.326 new rooms, released a statement from the Ministry of Tourism.
The millionaire investment is destined to hotel, real-tourist, real estate-hotel and aparthotel projects, which it will be built in La Altagracia and El Seibo (east), Puerto Plata (north), Samaná (northeast) and in the capital, Santo Domingo.
In this year,Confotur, a department of the Ministry of Tourism, has already approved 33 tourist initiatives with an estimated investment of 2.865 million dollars that will cost 14.669 new rooms.
They will be built in the provinces of La Altagracia, Puerto Plata, Samaná, Santiago, San Cristóbal, Santo Domingo, El Seibo and Barahona.
The investment comes from Panama, the United States, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, France, Argentina and the Dominican Republic itself.
The Central Bank announced that the Caribbean country received a total of 2.988.155 foreign and domestic passengers in the first five months of 2019.
