The Preference for Mexico as a Wedding Destination Grows

The preference for Mexico as a destination for weddings grows, especially in the Mexican Caribbean; and according to the Ministry of Tourism’sdata in that nation 600 thousand weddings are held annually.

From that number, a 70 percent is held on beaches in the Mexican Caribbean, especially in the Mayan Riviera, Mazatlán, Puebla, Guerrero, Puerto Vallarta, Guanajuato, Querétaro, Mérida, Baja California, Morelos and Oaxaca.

The Director of IBTM Americas and an expert in the Meetings Industry, David Hidalgo, considers that currently the market of weddings and romance is in increase, which is convenient for the industry of the leisure and for the country, that receives 23% of the trips linked to the niche of romance worldwide.

"Sectur estimates the average cost per person 1500 pesos a day. Mexicans have an average stay of two nights and three days, while international travelers increase to five nights and six days. This fact brings advantages for wedding planners, hoteliers, suppliers, banquets and venues.Therefore, at IBTM Americas we encourage the growth of this sector," said Hidalgo.

He said that on May 29th and 30th at the Citibanamex Center, it will be held the "Wedding and Romance Congress" presented by the Association of Wedding Consultants (ABC Latin America), which it will present the latest trends in the planning of the most requested destinations.

In order to analyze this segment of the meetings and incentives tripsindustry, the Congress will have as part of its program Weddings of South Asia in Mexico, Events for All Conferences;is scenery an air freshener? and Airbnb and Romance Tourism.

In Mexico there are at least 23 destinations with conditions to welcome visitors to the wedding and romance niche, and it has more than 700 specialized providers that provide national and international services.
