Located within the exclusive Puntacana Resort & Club complex, this natural reserve and ecological park is one of Punta Cana's tourist attractions. Although it is located in a private complex, it is open to the public upon payment of an entrance fee.
This impressive natural complex is ideal for hiking. During the tour you can observe the birds and lizards that live in this habitat, also get in touch with the flora of this reserve, consisting of more than 500 species of plants.
Through its trails you can reach one of its main attractions: 12 lagoons formed by the flowering of the subway river Yauya. Its waters are usually intense turquoise during most of the year and you can swim in most of them. The most popular lagoon has a small terrace and wooden platform for those who want to jump into its cool and comforting waters. The name "Ojos indígenas" (Indian Eyes) usually arouses the curiosity of its visitors. This unique name is due to the fact that the Tainos referred to the lagoons as "eyes".
In addition to hiking and swimming in the lagoons of the Ojos Indígenas Ecological Park, there is also the opportunity to visit the nearby Puntacana Ecological Foundation, where you can learn about beekeeping and worm composting projects.
