Biografía: 
Havana, 1923 Prima Ballerina Assoluta and Director of the National Ballet of Cuba, she`s one of the most relevant personalities in the history of the dance and she is the top figure of the classic dance in the circle of the Latin American culture. Eminent figure of the cultural life, Alicia Alonso has been granted with the title of Honorary Doctor by the University of Havana, the Superior Institute Art of Cuba and the Technical College University of Valencia, Spain. In 1993 she was given the Encomienda de la Orden Isabel la Catolica, which awards the King of Spain Juan Carlos I. That same year, he created the Professorship of Dance with her name in the University of Alcala de Henares, in Madrid. Coinciding with the seventh centenary of this studies center, she was given the commemorative medal. As director and main figure of the National Ballet of Cuba, Alicia Alonso has been the inspiration and guide of a new generation of Cuban dancers, with an own style which has conquered an important position in the international ballet.
