Arturo Arango

Año Nacimiento:
1955
Biografía:
Manzanillo, 1955 He graduated in Hispanic Language and Literature, in Cuban Studies, in the Philology Faculty of the University in Havana in 1977. He participated in the experimental workshop of movie scripts, Cuban Institute of Cinema and Movie Industry, in 1985 and in the courses and workshops on movie scripts given in the ICAIC by David Howard (U.S.A) and Gilda Santana (Cuba), 1995 and 1996. Nowadays, he is editor-in-chief of La Gaceta de Cuba. He has participated in several national and international events and he`s been jury in some contests. He`s an example of how the Cuban narrators, in their texts, deal with depth and efficacy the national reality. All his fiction work takes place in the present Cuba, its main characters are our contemporaries and their conflicts and motivations are ours. He has been awarded because of his stories. "La vida es una semana" is a book which is written with a simplicity that searches and finds the depths, where words are measured and the reading gives great delight. In his texts, Arango plays once and again with the function of the literature. The contemporary is also the theme of Arango`s essays. Reincidencias contains his very shrewd and supported reflections on the narrative and the poetry of his generation. Arturo Arango has another novel, Una lección de anatomia, love story with hot scenes, where he deals with the theme of infidelity and which, just as the rest of his narrative, takes place in the present Cuba.

Bermuda's railway line opened in 1931 and was the most expensive ever built. It was closed in 1948 and sold to Guyana, together with its engine, Old Rattle and Shake. The old line is now a nature trail.
