Biografía: 
Antonio Gonçalves Dias is penciled in as the foremost and greatest romantic poet of Brazil, a man who sung to the Indians and his homeland with the same expressiveness. Some of his most important works are Public Primeiros cantos" (1846), "Segundos cantos" (1848), "Últimos cantos" (1851), and "Sextilhas de frei Antào" (1848). He published a dictionary entitled "Dicionário da lingua tupi" (1858) and wrote an epic poem "Os timbiras". He died on his way back to Europe aboard the ship Ciudad de Boulogne that eventually sank off the coasts of Marañon.
