Biografía:
Jose Basilio de Gama lived for some time in Rome where he was admitted at the Arcades Academy. Then he moved to Lisbon where he settled down and got a brilliant name for himself. He was admitted at the Portuguese Academy of Arts and Literature. His most important work is "Uruguay" -a poem dealing with Jesus Christ's seven missions on earth- and "Quitubia", an epic poem where he describes the deeds of san African chief bearing the same name.
