Biografía: 
Las Villas, 1900 This painter and writer studied trade in the United States in the Pearce School of Trenton. He later entered the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, in Philadelphia, in order to study painting, but he was expelled due to the incompatibilitybetween his artistic sensibility and the academic studies he had there. Upon coming back to Havana, he entered the Cuban fine movement named «Generacion del 27», headed by Victor Manuel. He was an intense contributor of the Revista de Avance. He worked as manager of the coalmines of one of his brothers in law. He returned to New York and he lived in Greenwich Village. In 1930, he cam back to Havana but he travelled again to Europe. He travelled through France, Spain, Italy and England. Since 1934 he lived in Havana. In 1938, he created his painting El rapto de las mulatas. His paintings have been exhibited in more than fourty exhibitions since 1927 in Havana, Spain, Mexico, United States, Guatemala, Haiti and Argentina. He died on May, 2th, 1957.
