Biografía:
Craving music as an expression of the arts, visits to galleries and handicraft fairs spurred Lerroig's interest and enthusiasm in painting and graphic arts.He started out back on 1988 under the leadership of artist Luis German Cajiga. A year later in 1989, he continues his artistic development and goes into painting and carving of works of art, design and billboards, as well as the making of frames for his own pieces.Lerroig stays away from traditional pattern and follows his own order. He studies spaces, forms and lines, and inserts confusing geometric shapes. But at the same time he gives the impression of being in different backgrounds. He uses tropical colors. Birds, mountains, arid lands, trunks and flowers are intertwining elements that make up an environmental and imaginary work. All paintings are done using acrylic on cloth.His work hinges on awareness of the Puerto Rican culture and landscape that leads him to create an ingrained popular art based on roots and traditions. The whole concept for painting simple and naive images starts from an order of his own and using tropical colors. His premiere source of inspiration is the Puerto Rican ambiance, the national architecture, traditions and people's characters.He's shown his works in different collective exhibits and his pieces are displayed in a number of galleries in Puerto Rico. Among his most important works we can mention the billboards he drew for the Puerto Rican Cultural Institute in 1993 entitled Week of Puerto Rican Dancing and Week of Puerto Rican Music.
