George Washington left the American mainland only once - in 1751 to visit his sick brother in Barbados.
The region shows among its main characteristics the Viñales Valley, one of the most emblematic landscapes of the Greatest of the Antilles being A Natural National Monument. Located in an area of 132 square km belonging to the Sierra de los Organos, and surrounded by impressive mountains of round tops called hillocks covered by abundant vegetation with their origin in the Jurassic period. Along and across this territory there are natural trails for two cases in point. The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a Catholic church built in 1832. Forts Chacon and Picton stand out with a breathtaking architecture. Other sightseeing locations are Trinidad's Parliament lodged in the Red House, a typical renaissance-style construction. The Woodford Plaza with its beautiful fountain that brings back memories from the past is a must-see.
