Este refugio se encuentra localizado en la franja de 200 m de playa, comprendida entre Punta India y la desembocadura del río Nosara e incluye el poblado de Ostional. Pertenece al Cantón de Santa Cruz, en la Provincia de Guanacaste. Su importancia radica en la protección que brinda el refugio de la fauna silvestre de la zona, que incluye la tortuga lora, la tortuga baula y una gran variedad de aves marinas.
