A group of babalawos from different religious branches of the Yoruba Cultural Society and the Ifá Council of Senior Priests of Cuba released their predictions for the new year through a cryptic text called Letra del año 2019.
During a ceremony, from December 31st to the first day, the oracles were projected with predictions and warnings for the present year.
News agencies report that this message is much awaited by many of the Caribbean island's practitioners.
The babalawos predicted that this year it will be ruled by Ochún (the queen of the world's fresh waters, who personifies love and fertility) who will have Oggún (representative of strength and work) as her companion.
Hence, according to predictions, it will be a year of natural catastrophes and sea penetrations and there will be an increase in migration conflicts and problems in the agricultural sector.
In 2019, stomach and intestinal diseases will be the most common conditions, together with prostate problems in men and diseases of the colon and rectum, while forecasting a rise in the rate of sexually transmitted diseases.
In order to avoid any of these illnesses, the babalawos recommend caution with waste and the use of chemicals in agriculture.
They also advise avoiding all kinds of confrontations and problems with justice, maintaining an adequate religious ethic, helping each other and paying careful attention to the children's care.
The babalawos emphasize maintaining balance -in all orders- in order to calm sexual unrest, make better use of agricultural resources and not self-medicate.
Finally, they recommend reinforcing Oggun, for which it is necessary to see a godfather.
