France commits itself to opening hotels in Colombian Caribbean

Four projects, including an Ibis Budget in Bogota and a luxury hotel in the Colombian Caribbean under the Sofitel brand, have been signed by the French hotel company Accor in Colombia.

This French company seeks to grow through strategic alliances in the main cities of midscale and luxury hotels, mainly through investors.

There are currently 17 hotels in operation in Colombia and 9 in development plan, and 56% of the contracts signed in 2018 are with Ibero-American nations where Accor has operations.

Patrick Medes, CEO of Accor, said they have effective leadership in Brazil and want to broaden their presence in other countries.

"We see enormous potential for the midscale and luxury brands, which already account for 44% of new contracts across the region. Our reputation is consolidated and 55% of our business partners are new," Medes acknowledged.
