Ileana Núñez, Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (MINCEX) highlighted in Havana that the promotion of the development of multidestination tourism as a fundamental economic activity, will be one of the purposes of the ExpoCaribe Fair in Santiago de Cuba.
During a press conference, the official said that the event, that will take place from June 19th to 22th, also has the objective of increasing the participation of Caribbean nations in the investments that are taking place in Cuba.
This fair, the second most important shopping bag on the island, constitutes a propitious space for strengthening the relations with the wider Caribbean.
Orlando Hernández, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Cuba added that ExpoCaribe has as a comprehensive strategy the advancement of cooperation in foreign trade, with Trinidad and Tobago as a clear example of the economic relations that can be formed.
So far, Ministers from Nicaragua, Jamaica, Suriname, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Grenada and Curacaohave confirmed their participation, as well as 28 companies from 12 countries and more than 130 nationals.
At the same time, the XII Business Forum of the Greater Caribbean, sponsored by the Association of Caribbean States (AEC), will be held, which shall analyze topics related to cooperation, transport, investment, trade and tourism.
The Forum of Trade Promoting Organizations of the Greater Caribbean, the 20th Session of the Business Committee Cuba-Mexico, as well as the meeting of the Administrative Commission of the Partial Trade Agreement between Cuba and Guatemala will also take place, with the presence of June Soomer, General Secretary of the ACS, and Alicia Barcena, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC).
