Belize is the only country in Central America whose official language is English - but their people also speak Spanish, Creole and Maya.
A project called Corredor de Linea (Line Corridor), to revitalize the culture in the three kilometers that this street of the Havana Vedado covers, was included in a subsidy contract between the Administration Council of the People's Power (CAP) of Havana and the European Union (EU).
Alberto Navarro Gonzalez, EU ambassador in Cuba, said that for the first time this organization is working with a local government and the contribution will be one and a half million euros for three years, as an aid for that purpose, the Cuban News Agency reported in a note.
The ceremony took place in the Mella theatre in the presence of government authorities and the Ministry of Culture, to whom Navarro Gonzalez said that there is nothing better than culture to unite peoples.
Luis Carlos Gongora Dominguez, CAP vice-president in the capital, reported that this is one of the most comprehensive projects approved to celebrate the 500 years of the Villa de San Cristobal de La Habana, and that foresees the search for an integration in the cultural offer.
He also thanked the permanent support of the Ministry of this branch, which has been aware of everything concerning the project and has accepted its implementation.
Guillermo Solenzal Morales, Vice-Minister of Culture, said that the Line Corridor is a challenge and thanked the EU for its collaboration.
