El Salvador expects to end 2018 with 2,532,033 international visits, which represents a 12.7% growth compared to the previous year.
Jose Napoleon Duarte, Minister of Tourism, said foreign exchange earnings would reach $1,416.7 million by the end of 2018, a growth of 12% more than in 2017.
Central America (58%), North America (35%) and emerging countries contributed 7% of the total number of visitors to El Salvador.
The Christmas season runs from December 22nd to January 2nd, a period in which 107,036 international visitors are expected to arrive, that is, 4.8% more than in 2017.
By land would enter 75,789 travelers, while by air would be 31,247, which is equivalent to 4% and 6.9% more, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The Tourism Minister announced that the international currencies for tourism in the season, could amount to $75.50 million.
Meanwhile, hotel occupancy for the period could range between 60.4% and 84.1% on the beach, from 36.5% to 80% in mountain hotels, in rural areas from 30.4% to 45.4% occupancy and in the city could vary between 38.6% to 62.3% occupancy.
