Dominican Republic Signed Air Connectivity Agreements

In order to achieve better air connectivity that facilitates the development of tourism, trade and investment, the Dominican Republic signed Air Connectivity Agreements with the Netherlands, Curaçao and St. Martin.

Miguel Vargas, Minister for Foreign Affairs, signed Air Service Agreements with these nations, which allow a regulatory framework between the subscribing States that will facilitate economic and cultural exchange.

Vargas explained that almost seven million tourists arrive in the Dominican Republic by air, of them more than 31,000 come from the Netherlands, and stressed that these agreements will help achieve the target of 10 million visitors by 2020.

Meanwhile, these conventions will have particular importance for the establishment of direct flights from Curaçao and Sint Maarten that increase tourism, trade and investment; as they revealed that there is no appropriate air connectivity with these countries.

Annemieke Alexandra Verrijp, Ambassador of the Netherlands in the Dominican Republic initialed the agreement concluded with her nation and the agreement for Curaçao; while for St Martin,the Minister for Tourism,Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunications Stuart Andrew Johnson.
