Dominican Republic maintains high rate of tourist arrivals

The Dominican Republic registered a total of 5,424,399 tourists in the January-October period, for an increase of 317,247 additional tourists with respect to the same period of the previous year.

According to data announced by the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic (BCRD), it is equivalent to a 6.2 percent growth and in that result non-resident foreigners had an annual growth of 5.0% (221,529 additional travelers).

During 2017, this Caribbean nation exceeded for the first time in 10 months the arrival of 5 million non-resident foreign visitors by air, totaling between January and October the 5,107,152 tourists.

This year's increase is influenced by the contribution of the United States, the country's main trading partner, with 42.4% of the total tourists in the past ten months, as well as activities jointly promoted by the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) and the private sector in promoting the country in international markets.
