Juazairo, 1931 João Gilberto is the author of one Brazil's most famous songs in which the fusion of samba and bossa-nova is laid bare. In 1959 he recorded his LP "Chega de Saudade". In 1964, he culled some of his top hits in an album he produced together with U.S. sax player Stan Getz. That LP cracked the top-40 list and posted record-selling figures. Gilberto has won seven Grammy awards. He's also lived in Mexico, the U.S. and France.
