San Jose, 1968 Adrian Arguedas studied engraving in Loriet, France, and in the National University of Heredia, Costa Rica, where he got the degree. The artist makes incursions into the use of an assortment of expressive and thematic resources, which makes him a prestigious figure of engraving. He was prominent in xylography, where he shows technical mastery and interest marked by a critical vision of himself and his environment. Arguedas is an honourable perpetuator of the national engraving tradition and he follows the steps of important figures such as Francisco Amighetti, who is admired by him. His work has been individually exhibited in the art gallery Joaquin Garcia Monge from San Jose, 1994: ""Conjunto sexual""; Espacio Crous-Rennes de Morbihan, France: ""Grabado en metal""; Lorient, France 1993: ""Obra Grafica""; Costa Rican Art Museum 1993: ""Dibujos""; Joaquin Garcia Monge: ""Imagenes memorables"". He has participated in important collective exhibitions highlighting ""Grabadores Costarricenses, 10 propuestas"", Central Bank Museums, San Jose, Costa Rica; ""Arte de Costa Rica"" (itinerant exhibition), Sprengel Museum, Hannover, Germany; International Triennial of Engraving 1991, Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taiwan; National Engraving Hall ""Francisco Amighetti" Costa Rican Art Museum, San Jose; X International Art Biennial, Valparaiso, Chile. He has also received important prizes which prove the value of his work, such as: National Prize "Aquileo J. Echeverria" on Engraving 1994; Unique Prize, Painting Contest "XXX Aniversario del Banco Popular"", 1993; Unique Prize, Gold Medal, Engraving National Hall "Francisco Amighetti"", San Jose, Costa Rica. Nowadays, he combines his work as engraving and drawing professor in the University, with his graphic and pictorial production at Taller Azul, which was founded by him."
