Pedro Arrieta

Puerto Limon, 1954 Pedro Arrieta studied in the Fine Arts School of the Costa Rican University, in the National School of Art "La Esmeralda" in Mexico (1979-80) and in the Fine Arts Faculty of San Carlos, of the Technical University of Valencia, Spain (1992). As member of the Bocaraca Group, he has been awarded with important prizes such as the Ancora of the Newspaper La Nacion (1992), and the National Prize “Aquileo Echeverria” (1992). He has carried out several exhibitions of his work, such as “Pasion” displayed in the National Gallery of Contemporary Art of the Costa Rican Museum of Art (1995), in the Enrique Echandi Gallery (1996), and "Meditetropica lucis" of silk screens in the Exhibitions Hall of the Technical University of Valencia (1992). Arrieta has also received the Great Prize Open Hall of the III Biennal of Sculpture in the Costa Rica bar (1997); the prize "Estandartes de Libertad" of the French Alliance in Costa Rica and the National Prize “Aquileo Echeverria” in Painting (1987); the Great Prize of the Guests Hall "El artista a traves del objeto" of the National Center of Science and Culture, 1999, San Jose, Costa Rica.
