Caribbean Travel Marketplace Conference Held in Jamaica

The Caribbean Travel Marketplace conference, organized by the Association of Caribbean Hotels and Tourism, is held until Thursday at the Convention Center of Montego Bay, Jamaica, with the participation of more than a thousand delegates from 26 countries in the area and purchasers from about 20 markets around the world.

Dignitaries and travel buyers from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, India, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Poland, Puerto Rico, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States participate in the main travel conference in the Caribbean region.

A large group of travel buyers from China is present for the first time in the history of the Caribbean Travel Marketplace.

Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Tourism of Jamaica, acknowledged that the hosting of this event is an achievement for his country, and expressed the assurance of significant benefits.

The executive and general director of the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association, Frank Comito, said they have prepared a high quality program for participants to interact with colleagues from the industry and promote travel to the region.

The Caribbean island aims to reach 5 million tourists by 2020, which could represent revenue of about $5 billion.

More than 4.3 million visitors came from all over the world in the previous year.
