Airport Inaugurated on Costa Rican Osa Peninsula

Costa Rica President, Carlos Alvarado, inaugurated an airport in Drake, in the Osa Peninsula (southern zone), whose investment amounted to 5.6 million dollars.

Alvarado said that they are moving towards the economic recovery of the southern area and therefore will continue to improve the airports of Palmar Sur, Golfito and Perez Zeledon.

The new infrastructure includes the construction of the terminal, the runway, the security strips and the perimeter mesh.

The newly inaugurated airport has an area of 260 square meters to receive about 162 people, its runway had a concrete extension from 10 to 18 meters wide and from 770 meters to 1,004 meters long, as well as the construction of a parking platform for three type B aircraft.

"Having this infrastructure was of utmost importance to facilitate the entry of more operators to the area and increase the arrival of tourists and passengers, which is translated into a substantial improvement of the local and national economy," expressed the director general of Civil Aviation, Guillermo Hoppe.
