The main tourist attractions of the city are: Kingstown Free Library, which keeps treasures of the Carib Indians; the Anglican Cathedral; and the Botanical Garden, the oldest West Indies botanical garden, founded in 1765. In a headland north the city is the Charlotte Fort, built by the British at the end of the 17 Century, as a protection against the French invasion.
