AEC was set up around five years ago, being one of the most important organizations of the hemisphere fostering cooperation, consultation and increased trade and investment in several subregions. The Association actively participates in the elimination of linguistic barriers, as well as in the promotion of a closer link among State members.The Association is a forum to foster cooperation among other organizations involved in the hemispheric integration as can be the Secretariat of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Economic System of Latin America (SELA), the Integration System of Central American Integration (ISCA). The Association has signed also agreements with the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL). An example of this can be the concern for the establishment of the Area of Sustainable Tourism, the Agreement of Regional Cooperation for 2222.


Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO)
CTO

CTO has always been at the vanguard of regional tourism during the last 50 years, by means of its predecessors. The Caribbean Tourism Organization was established in January 1989 out of a fusion made among the Association of Caribbean Tourism Association (CTA, founded in 1951) and the Caribbean Research and Develpment Center (CTRDC, founded in 1974).It is an international development agency which operates, according to the terms of an agreement of the leadership with the Barbados governmentIt’s an international development agency that operates according to the terms of the leaderships of the government of Barbados. It also has marketing operation in tourism that generates markets in New York and London.CTO’s main objective is to supply the necessary information services to develop a sustainable tourism through its members, from which the Caribbean people can economically and socially benefit from.Tourism market, research and information management, development of human resources, development of products and technical assistance, as well as consultancy services, make up the core of activities offered on behalf of member countries.


Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
FAO

FAO was founded in October 1945 with the objective of raising the nutritional levels and quality life and also of improving agricultural productivity and the situation of the rural population.At present FAO, made up by 180 member States, in addition to CE a member organization, has over 4,300 officials all over the world.The Organization provides a direct assistance for development, gather, reviews and analyze information, furnishes government with assessment on policies and planning and serves as an international forum for the debate on topics related to agriculture and food.FAO actively participates in the fostering of lands and waters, vegetal production, forestry, fishing, economic and social policy, investment, nutrition, food standards, goods and trade. Another of its main functions is to face urgent situations regarding food and agricultural problems as draught, pests, insects and the like.A concrete priority of the Organization is the fostering of the sustainable agricultural and rural development, a strategy at a long run for the conservation and ordering of the natural resources. Its aim is to satisfy the needs of the present and future generations through programs that do not damage the environment and that can be technically appropiate, economically viable and socially accepted.


International Criminal Police Organization
INTERPOL

On June 13, 1956, the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) replaced the International Criminal Police Commission founded in 1923. This organization serves as an information and database center on criminal activities used by law enforcement agencies from 177 countries. Each member nation relies on a national office that receives information from the INTERPOL and dole it out among its local offices and agencies nationwide. INTERPOL keeps a close eye on drug smuggling and money laundering operations. Shortly after World War II, INTERPOL was directly run by the Nazi Party and that situation remained so through the entire war . In 1938, its headquarters were moved from Vienna (Austria) to Berlin (Germany). Today, the headquarters are in Lyon, France


Latin-American Economic System

SELA has actively participated in the efforts to encourage AEC from its very origin, when the officials of the Great Caribbean, including Mexico, Colombia and Venezuela, met to define the constitution and the working program.Most of the members of AEC also belongs to SELA which comprises the whole region of Latin America.One of SELA’s main objective is that of fomenting the regional integration among the Latin American states and the Caribbean.Both SELA and AEC closely collaborate in topics comprising regional and international trade, sustained development and matters of interest in the fields of culture, science and technology.
