This is one of the greatest Dominican poets with a profound lyrical sentiment. Some consider him the highest literary figure of the independence generation whose works were marked by intense feelings. Felix Maria del Monte took part in numerous events, meetings and struggle efforts that eventually helped boost the political process that led to the nation's independence. He founded El Dominicano and El Porvenir newspapers. He served in office as a congressman and chief of the Foreign Affairs, Justice and Instruction Committee during president Baez's second term in office.He taught Literature and Jurisprudence in college. At 25, he wrote the lyrics of the country's first war anthem that was at the time sung in combats and on certain dates.
