Francisco Villalona attended elementary school in the province of Dajabon and started his artistic activities in the same location.Though he has his big break in show biz singing ballads, shortly after that he started working on merengue, Dominicans' rhythm of choice. From that moment on, he began cracking the charts and elbowing his way through the top of one of the most outstanding musical careers in this genre lately.Francisco Villalona stands next to the likes of Johnny Ventura, Wilfrido Vargas and the great Juan Luis Guerra.Besides being a performer, this artist has spent time as a songwriter. Almost two dozen CDs cull the artist's broad and varied repertoire that includes boleros, meringues, cumbias, bachatas and ballads. He's won the coveted ACE Award granted by the New York-based Hispanic critics. Villalona has performed in the Madison Square Garden and Carnegie Hall in the Big Apple, at the Poliedro in Caracas and other halls in the United States, and both Central and South America.This major musician, so outstanding for his charisma and onstage moxie, has also performed next to other Latin American top performers.Today, he's considered a merengue idol of the latest decades in the Dominican Republic.
