Villa Clara

Founded in 1869 by the inhabitants of a coast town that escaped from the attacks of pirates and corsairs, Villa Clara is located right on the center of the Greatest of the Antilles. its capital Santa Clara, is a growing city in which the traditions link with a growing tourist development and it has centenary cultural values, high scientific, social and industrial potential. Villa Clara has places of great historical value such as the Plaza Ernesto Guevara that constitutes for a sacred place for Cubans and many other people in the world. It's a marble museum where the corpse of Che Guevara and the members of his guerrilla rest. It's also linked to the presence of Che in Santa Clara, we can find the surviving remains of the famous armored train that should have carried back up to the troops of the dictator in the interior of the country and which was derailed turning to ashes the hope of survival of the bloody Batista's Government's life. Around the beautiful park Vidal- famous for its tress and its arbor and its statues- there is the interesting architectonical group from which the old Theater of la Caridad with its classical Italian style and the Provincial Library outstand. To the North, there is Remedios, the 8th villa in Cuba, founded in 1524 and birthplace of the great musician and lawyer Alejandro Garcia Caturla. Among its attractions we recommend that you visit the Parrish of San Juan Bautista, the Museum of Parades and the hotel Mascotte. The new investments point out to extend towards the cays the development of an important infrastructure for tourism, taking advantage of the abundant Islets and the virgin beaches of glass-like waters. The first steps in this sense have been the cays Las Brujas and Santa María. For this purpose a rustic road net extends from Caibarien, a fisherman's town, and links some virgin cays to the Hanabanilla, artificial lake among hills, and its water jump. For health tourism lovers, the Elguea bath is available for the enjoyment of medicinal waters where a modern facility offers you a great choice of therapeutic techniques.
