Port Antonio

You could drive to Port Antonio from the capital along the northeastern coastal road. But you'll have to drive through the Blue Mountains and this is the country's rainiest zone and that's rendered in a plentiful and luring landscape. The road is narrow, steep and twisted, running through a splendid panorama of green and abundant forests that melt into outstanding coffee plantations. As the local legend goes, back in the 1950s this was Jamaica's most exclusive location and coveted getaway for such people as Bette Davis and Errol Flynn, whose houses have now been turned into a hotel. It's by all means a perfect, quiet destination marked by a coastal landscape. This is an ideal location for resting where you'll find yourself surrounded by small log cabins and tacky villas. You could also visit the Rio Grande Rafts, the Blue Lagoon, the Somersault Waterfalls and the caverns. Unlike all this, the Athenry Gardens and the Boston Beach stand out as their own sites. Blessed by warm weather all year round, this place offers visitors dreamy sun-bathed beaches and the so-called Blue Mountains, penciled in as a haven for the warmest time of day between placid rivers and fresh waterfalls. This appears to be the right spot for a romantic night. Famous for its top-quality restaurants, many of them overlooking the Blue Mountains and serving a top-rated service, Jamaican cuisine consists of a delicious blend of ancient Indian, Spanish, African and Asian food. To top it all off, a little bit of dancing to the beat of calypso and a drink or two at the poolside bar would do the trick. All this under the elegance of the night disguised as a star-studded sky.
