Kingston

Kingston is Jamaica's major economic and political hub and also its most cosmopolitan city. Located in the southern coast of the island nation, it's caught between a gully and the Blue Mountains. Its strategic location between North and South America makes it a coveted destination for commercial meetings in the city's Conference Center. This city shows off a blend of diverse origins, yet African ethnic groups prevail alongside the offspring of British settlers and descendants from Eastern peoples. This heterogeneity is reflected in a cuisine diversity. Restaurants in town make a wise combination of the most exotic meals with the local gourmet in which pork meat ragout and meat-stuffed pies and fried plantains are the top specialty. Kingston is so far away from the island's tourist resorts that it's remained almost untouched by the influence exerted by its numerous visitors. We suggest you to make a stop and stay in any of its hotels that blend with the city's architectural style to offer you great comfort and coziness. The city offers a great chance to stroll down its streets and gaze at its many sightseeing, historical and cultural sites, as well as entertainment spots. We strongly recommend a visit to the National Dance Theater to applaud the country's well-known folk singers, explore the treasures displayed at the National Arts Gallery, or simply watch the memorabilia at the Bob Marley Museum, the founding father of reggae music. At the Orange Street market, a great variety of homemade items are on sale, especially bright-colored garments. Travelers can also find interesting earthenware, chiefly handicrafts made from stuff provided by the sea, as well as different paintings of colorful backdrops. Part of the magic about the city's bustling streets stems from its picture-perfect shops and stores, shopping malls and bars, spots and sites where reggae, salsa and calypso blare out all day long. Any time is a good time for drinking beer, for many the national drink. The capital offers a great chance of strolling down the legendary town of the southern shore, especially for those whose still get carried away by the adventurous aftertaste of pirates and filibusters.
