Managua is a city surrounded by volcanic lagoons, that is why its name means "where there is a water extension". To the north is located the Lake of Managua, the Tiscapa Lagoon in downtown, and surrounding the urban area visitors may find the lagoons of Asososca, Xiloá, Nejapa and Apoyeque. Dominating the city, the Momotombo Volcano raises over the city León Viejo, the first city founded by the Spaniards in 1524. This is the most attractive and interesting city and a worthy place to visit is the Seat of the Revolution, surrounded by ruins, the Old Cathedral, that makes contrast with the New Cathedral and near the Central Park, it is located the Theater Rubén Darío and the National Palace, turned nowadays in Palace of Culture.
