Placencia

Placencia is a small, quiet and peaceful town located in a peninsula south of Belize. The Caribbean's crystal-clear waters wash this peninsula where some of Belize's best beaches are hubbed, near the huge coral-reef barrier edging the coast, an ideal location for scuba divers and snorkeling buffs. Fishing is a favorite sport in Placencia, featuring excellent locations for getting a suntan, windsurfing or sailing off toward the terrific surrounding keys. Its numerous tours to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, a major haven for cougars, ocelots, pumas, anteaters, tapirs, armadillos, otters, boas and countless bird species and flowers, can be conducted on board sailing down Monkey River, a flow of water hedged with Mayan ruins. Check in one of our top-notch hotels and enjoy the restaurants where Creole cuisine is the nitty-gritty of all specialties. In case you'd like to get in touch with other cultures, swing by Seine bight, a Garifuna community where traditional African-origin dances and their peculiar garments have lived out time. Nightlife kicks off and so does fun and entertainment in clubs, bars or just any other place where you could dance, laugh or drink the night away. When your vacations are over, take home with you a keepsake of your stay in Placencia. Choose the best gift from an assortment of craftsmanship in a row of shops and stores. And don't forget: Placencia will always wait for your return!
