Veracruz

Veracruz, the Queen City of the eastern coast, ranks as Mexico's oldest village. It proudly presents its streets and buildings that date back to the early 20th century blended with the colonial-style architecture of the past. Its people clearly show the mixture of African and Spanish cultures. During carnival celebrations, the whole town spills over fantasy, color and blissfulness as hoofers dance to the beat of the traditional sound of jorocha. There's commonplace pride here for the San Juan de Ulúa Castle, a fortress that took 180 years to be complete and that helped to defend the city from foe attacks. The Plaza of the Constitution used to be the main square during the colonial rule. Besides, the city counts on several museums and major archeological sites. One of the most striking spots is the aquarium. Bars stand for some of the most sought-after spots in town, excellent places to listen to good Latin music, sip a cup of coffee and enjoy the whole ambience. Great hotels stand out in Veracruz providing the best service and comfort you could possible find.
