Literary development took off in the 16th century and it goes on today. There are three well-limited stages: the literary manifestations, the configuration of the literary system and the consolidated literary system. In the combination of these three stages, the roots of these expressive forms that showcase the Brazilian reality and its own way of contemplating the world emerge.
