Saint Vincent and the Grenadines

The elementary education is free and compulsory and schooling is low. The education cycle starts at the age of 5 and ends at 11 years old. There are more than 61 governmental and private schools. There are about two state junior high school institutes, one for girls and the other is mixed (1991). The religious institutions run about 13 junior high schools subsidized by the government. The higher education has a teaching college and a technological college. The literacy rate is 85%.
