Cumaná

Capital of the Venezuelan state of Sucre. Its location at the entrance to the gulf of Cariaco has turned it into an outstanding fishing port in the country‘s eastern region, as well as a trade and service center. Sited at a crossroads of highways that link it with the rest of the country, it also has an airport. It has an excellent natural bay with modern port facilities and intense fishing work. Among its activities are fish canning and manufacturing, coffee, tobacco and cocoa processing, rum distillation and metal, machinery and textile industries.
