It is located north to the Bolívar department, on the marvelous Caribbean coast. The city is known by a place full of history, a unique event in Latin America. It is a great industrial center, specialized in petrochemistry. Its privileged situation made this place the most important route of penetration for the Spanish conquest in America, and also the main route of commerce with the Mother Country. That is the reason why it was called “The Key of India”.
