San Pedro de Macoris

San Pedro de Macorís is one of the most important cities of this area. It is located at 70 kilometers of Santo Domingo. San Pedro de Macorís became the capital of sugar cane when it was founded in the middle of the XIX Century by Cuban immigrants who were running away from the independence war and by natives of this area.
From those good times, many buildings of different styles (Creole, Victorian and neoclassic) still remain, giving this city a unique character.
