Los Santos

The province of Los Santos is hubbed in the Azuero Peninsula. It's one of the richest farming and livestock breeding regions in the Republic of Panama. Just like in the province of Herrera, it was founded in 1850 alongside Las Tablas, its capital. Residents here are hospitable people who love working as silversmiths, leather and ceramic artists, and in other trades. This is a province that underlines folklore and national traditions. The carnivals are a good case in point. These parties are held in February and March. Other celebrations -maybe not as gaudy as the carnivals- are the National Marjoram Festival, the Poultry Festival, the Corpus Christi Festival and Azuero's National Fair. Los Santos is blessed with undisputed natural beauty and conditions for ecological tourism. A case in point is the 985-meter-high Canajagua Peak, the Western Range of the Azuero Peninsula and Iguana Island. Its parks and wildlife safe havens, its rivers and waterfalls, are simply eye-opening. Last but not least, there are such places as the Manuel F. Zarate Museum, the Nationality Museum and the Palace of Government. These natural beauties come together with the snugness of excellent tourist facilities that dot this coastal province. Its stores, restaurants, both humble and fancy hotels wave travelers in as they stroll down the streets of Los Santos. Here you can choose from an array of sports to practice. This province possesses an amazing diversity of beaches to pick from that includes La Marinera, La Laja Beach, Uverito, Rompio, Horcones and a whole lot more, all of them loaded to pack a wallop!
